William D. Smith, age 68, of the Town of Amherst, October 21, 2021. William worked as an Analytical Chemist for the Erie County Water Authority for over 20 years. He was a devoted long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, Tonawanda Council #413. He was a gardener and golfer. He loved the Buffalo Bills and his Penn State Nittany Lions. Beloved husband of Patricia (Carlson) Smith. Dear father of William R. (Bonnie) Smith, and Brian D. Smith. Grandfather of Owen, Cecilia, and Mara. Brother of Rev. James R. (Jose´) Smith, Patrick (Mickey) Smith, the late Lawrence M. Smith and the late Stephen A. Smith. Brother-in-law of Jane Smith. Uncle of many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Fretthold & Hamp Funeral Home, 37 Adam St. in Tonawanda, NY on Monday from 4 – 8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM from St. Francis of Assisi R. C. Church, 144 Broad St., in Tonawanda. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
