Ronald Barber, age 88, passed away unexpectedly after a brief hospital stay. Ronald was a lifelong mechanic who started his career as a child working alongside his father for his family owned business, Barber’s Garage. He served as a mechanic during the Korean War. He was employed by the North Tonawanda City School district and retired after 30 + years of service. Ronald loved wood working and was very skilled at his craft. He was always building something for someone. He was a member of the Gastown Sportsman’s Club and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved spending time hunting and camping in Friendship, NY. He cherished the moments spent with his family there, gathered around the campfire. He looked forward to his annual week-long fishing trip with family in Powassan, ON, always hoping to “reel in the big one”. He enjoyed passing time caring for his vegetable garden and bird watching. Ronald will be remembered by his unwavering work ethic, his constant even keel and gentle mannerisms, and loving disposition. He wouldn’t think twice to open his home to the masses and was quick and eager to get down on the floor to play with his grandchildren.
Ronald was predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, Carol Ann Barber. He was also predeceased by his brother Randy Barber. He is survived by his loving brother Gary Barber. He leaves behind his loving daughters Theresa (Shawn) Kilroy, Susan (John) Tanner, and Connie (Gerald) Michlin. He will be dearly missed by his many grandchildren, Andrew (Kaitlin) Kilroy, Katrina Ciesinski, Sarah (Joseph) Flateau, Emily (Michael) Cohen, Kristin Tanner, Matthew Tanner, Joseph (Ashley) Kilroy, Daniel Tanner, Annaliese (Joseph) Szortyka, Faith Kilroy, Samantha Michlin, Mary Tanner, Benjamin Kilroy, and Colleen Kilroy.
