Lorraine M. Pickel

Lorraine M. Pickel (nee Balsdon), age 85, of Grand Island, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 6, 2024. 

Lorraine worked as an LPN at Elma Primary Care. She loved to travel with her family to  Summer Bay, and the gulf coast of Florida. She was a huge contributor to any and all animal support organizations. She was an avid sports enthusiast. 

Loving wife of the late Robert W. Pickel, Sr. Loving mother to Robert W. (Kathleen) Pickel, Jr.,  Michael G. (Ann) Pickel, Jeffrey D. (Debbie) Pickel, Lori N. Collignon, and the late Karen L. Coomber; Grandmother of Jacob (Margie), Rachel, Alexander (Kayla), Jeffrey Jr. (Emily), and Shannon Pickel, Courtney, McKenna, Cameron Collignon, Ranier Khan, Ashley McQuiggan (Greg), and the late B. C. Coomber. Great grandmother of 7 great grandchildren.  Sister of Charles Balsdon, and the late Barbara Abshagen. She will be missed by her dog, Lily.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Fretthold & Hamp Funeral Home, located at 37 Adam Street, on Sunday, March 10th, from 1pm - 5pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 11th, beginning at 10am. Interment at Elmlawn Memorial Park. If so desired, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or the Nickel City Canine Rescue, 5635 Harris Hill Road, Williamsville, NY 14221.
