Joan (nee Witulski) Kohler, age 73, of Tonawanda, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Born January 16, 1947 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary (nee Morawski) Witulski. Joanie was a graduate of Tonawanda High School, Class of 1964. She was the longtime Deputy City Treasurer in the City of Tonawanda before retiring and had served a term as Treasurer. Joanie had been the treasurer of the City of Tonawanda School Board for many years. She was very involved with the Business and Professional Women's Foundation, the Zonta Club, and the Red Hat Society. She organized the Canal Fest Queen Pageant for many years and was honored with a proclamation of "Joanie Kohler Day" by the mayor of Tonawanda. Joanie enjoyed traveling and spending time at the beach.
She was the wife of Daniel J. Kohler; mother of Christine (John) Ammerman of North Tonawanda; grandmother of Cory C. Adams, Alyssa A. Adams, Sara L. Snickles, and Tyler M. Stutz; and sister of Patricia A. Witulski of Tonawanda, the Rev. Mr. James (Mary) Witulski of North Carolina, and Joyce M. Miller of Georgia. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID19 public health crisis, the visitation and funeral mass will be cared for privately in order to comply with the social distancing mandates. We appreciate your cooperation. Condolences that are sent to the funeral home will be delivered to the family. Interment will be cared for privately at Acacia Park Cemetery, Town of Pendleton.
