Gloria Joan Kropp

Gloria J Kropp (nee Gau), age 90, of North Tonawanda, on May 6, 2023, surrounded by family. She was the loving wife of the late Harold E. Kropp. Daughter of late Charles and Alida Gau and mother of Lorna (Christopher) Jankowski, Marcia (Mitchell) Haner, Mary (Michael) Seal, Kathleen Barnes, Karen (Brian) Newton, and the late Charles (Teresa) Kropp. She was the cherished grandmother to Harold, Sarah, Christopher, Jonathan, Robert, Todd, Amanda, Melanie, Jenny, Mitchell, Diana, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Megan, and Brian Jr, and great-grandmother to Bradley, Maiya, Nolan, Jordyn, Isaac, Isabella, Cassie, Kayla, Colton, Easton, Brody, Mia, Haley, Luke, Emma, Ewan, Elijah, Kariena, Kaitlyn, Madison, Zoey, Alivia, Jason, SkyAnn, Leo, Victoria, Ashley, Lillian, Neil, Sarah, Matthew, Aubrey, Jayce, Audryc, Joel, and Amelia.  She was the loving great-great-grandmother of Mira, Henry, and Asher. She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gloria was born in Buffalo and raised in Tonawanda, NY. She was baptized in Salam Church and attended church there. She attended school in the City of Tonawanda. She met Harold, her late husband on a blind date and they quickly fell in love and got married in 1950. They spent 60 beautiful years together and were blessed with six children. After their marriage, she began to attend the Catholic church with her husband and family.

Gloria was active in her children’s lives, helping with girl scouts, being a room mother at their school, and getting involved with Twin-Ton-Ettes. She and Harold were active at Delaware Hose Firehall, where Gloria was a member of the Auxiliary. They joined the Lions Club and became a lifetime member and spent time as a member of the Eagles Club as well. Harold and Gloria enjoyed square dancing and helping at Saint Francis Church and Mission, and even helped other churches get their missions started.

She worked at Murphy’s and AM&A’s. She sold Tupperware and worked at a daycare from the late 1980’s, until her retirement in 1997. She enjoyed working the voting booths when she was able and belonged to a Card Club. She kept busy but always had time for her family, which she cherished more than anything.

 Friends may call at Fretthold & Hamp Funeral Home (Corner of Seymour and Adam St. in Tonawanda) on Tuesday, May 9th from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm – 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Francis of Assisi RC Church on Wednesday, May 10th, beginning at 10:00am. Interment will take place at Acacia Park Cemetery.
