Donna Gromlovits Obituary

Donna May Gromlovits (Ruffner) age 69, of North Tonawanda , passed away on March 3, 2021 at
Northgate HealthCare Facility. Donna was a graduate of North Tonawanda High school, class of 1970.
She graduated, with honors, from the Accounting program at Niagara County Community College in
2000. She was very proud of this accomplishment. Donna worked as a school bus driver for the North
Tonawanda School district for many years. She spent time as a secretary at the Niagara Falls Air Base.
She also worked for the Niagara County Board of Elections. She was active in The Girl Scouts of America
as troop leader in the 1980’s for both of her daughters' troops. Some of Donna's scouts have told us that
this was some of their best memories as children because of her dedication to the troop. Donna loved
to read, bake, play Bingo, counted cross stitch, plastic canvas and crocheting. She was a wonderful cook
and hostess to many family gatherings. Donna loved to travel. Donna and Tom’s favorite spots included
Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, California and frequent trips to Walt Disney World in Florida. Her
adventures included visiting family, camping, beaches, fishing and traveling to historic sites and
destinations. She had a love of technology and always had the latest cameras, computers and gaming
systems. Most of all Donna loved Tom, her children, grandchildren and all of her family and friends.
When asked to describe Donna, family and friends say she was caring, had a wonderful sense of humor,
she was thoughtful and a complete joy. She was there for everyone, no questions asked and this is her
legacy.
Donna was a resident at the NorthGate HealthCare Facility in North Tonawanda the last years of her life.
The staff there took exceptional care of her. Most recently during the pandemic when family could not
be with her they treated her with tremendous kindness. She was loved by them as we loved her. They
have felt her loss as much as we have, thank you to them for their compassion and care.
Beloved wife of 48 years to Thomas Gromlovits. Dear Mother of Melanie(Jeremiah) Keleher, Brian T.
(Bridget)Gromlovits and TracyAnne (Andrew) McMahan. Grandmother to Jacob, Ethan, Matthew,
Cecilia, Delaney, Shane and Joshua. Great Grandmother to Ava Christine(daughter of Jacob). Daughter
of Betty(Pounds) Ruffner and the Late James E. Ruffner. She was the sister of the late James Ruffner,
