Don (age 67) of North Tonawanda passed away after a brief battle with cancer on January 10, 2024.
He was the son of the late Donald and Norma (nee Sullivan), brother of Susie, Rick (Danusha) and the late Norma Jean. He was also a loving uncle to nieces and nephews; Danielle (Don) Wittcop, Katie (Robert) White, John, Ricky and Rosie (John) Cains and 7 great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by cousins, relatives and friends.
As a child Don was his older brother Rick’s shadow and he enjoyed being with their many friends and playing baseball in Pine Woods’ Park. Don enjoyed many family road-trips, vacations and their pool. In the mid 1970’s Don became employed at the Goodwill and worked there for over 40 years. Don lived in their family home his entire life. After his mother passed away in 2009 his older sister Susie moved in with him and they took care of each other since. Don also had several different dogs over the years, which he cherished. Don was everyone’s friend and could have a conversation with anyone. He always cared about everyone and was willing to lend a helping hand wherever he could. He loved the outdoors and recently enjoyed a camping trip with his niece Katie and her family. He was a lifelong music lover and was always listening and singing along to his large music collection or the radio. He was also a fan of The Three Stooges.
Don will forever be everyone’s brother, uncle or friend and he will be truly missed.
Family and friends are invited to visitation at Fretthold & Hamp Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 17th, from 4pm - 8pm. Interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
