Carol Lee McDonald (nee O’Connor), 79, of North Tonawanda, New York, died after a brief illness on Wednesday, November 3rd at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. Carol was born in Tonawanda, NY on December 23rd, 1941, wife of John Joseph McDonald of North Tonawanda, NY and daughter of the late George William O’Connor Sr. and Virginia Dorothy O’Connor (nee Hayes).In addition to her husband, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, she is survived by three children, David John McDonald (Angela), Daniel Joseph McDonald (Shelley) and Molly Ann Barnard (Larry) – all residing in the Tonawandas – and the late Timothy Michael McDonald. She is also survived by a sister, Mary Paula O’Connor, and a brother, George William O’Connor Jr. In addition, she is survived by seven grandchildren, Sean Ryan McDonald (Katie), Joseph David McDonald, Garett Daniel McDonald, Jamie Ann D’Orazio (nee Barnard), Colin Reid Barnard (Brandi), Timothy Michael Barnard, Ryan Wesley Barnard, as well as seven great grandchildren.
Carol was a lifelong Roman Catholic and a member of Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Tonawanda, NY. She attended Mount Saint Mary, Saint Francis of Assisi School and Tonawanda High School. In her later years, she worked for the City of Tonawanda, the North Tonawanda School District and Cardinal O’Hara High School. Carol was a loving, kind and generous person and was completely devoted to her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking her special dishes for the holidays, laughing around a campfire, and taking boat rides on the Niagara River and the Thousand Islands. She was always there when you needed her to listen or help out. She lit up a room with her sense of humor and infectious laugh, and everyone was happy to be around her.
