Elaine L. (Urban) Lankes

Elaine (nee Urban) Lankes, age 92, of Getzville, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 30, 2020. Born October 8, 1927 in North Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (nee Schaal) Urban. A graduate of UB School of Pharmacy, she had been employed at Thurlow Smith Pharmacy and then at Allen Mack Pharmacy in North Tonawanda before retiring. Elaine was a past-president of ZONTA and the UB Pharmacy Alumnae Association. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, and reading.

She was married for 53 years to the love of her life, the late Edmund Lankes, who died January 21, 2015; sister of the late Mildred Niemiec, late Joseph Urban, and late Roger Urban; sister-in-law of Roberta Urban; aunt of Constance Anthony, Mark (Allene) Niemiec, Karen (Richard) Bly, Michael (Patty McGuire) Urban, Sherry (John) DiGuiseppe, Bruce (Marion Heim) Urban, Joseph (Heidi) Urban, and Gary (Doris) Urban; great aunt of Jack (Kelly) DiGuiseppe, Victoria (Buddy) Keeler, Angela Morales, Emma Falter, Josh (Samantha Urban) Cress, Nicole Amrhein, Craig Anthony, Christopher Niemiec, Jessica Lightheart, Tyler Niemiec, Richard Bly, Mark Bly, Katie Wagner, and Jennifer Plolski; great, great aunt of Camella DiGuiseppe, Julianna Cress, Miles Cress, Isla Cress, Van Urban, Jack Anthony, Christien Anthony, Thomas Niemiec, Jack Lightheart, Joseph Lightheart, Julieann Lightheart, Veronika Bly, Isabell BlyHarrison Wagner, and MiKayla Wagner; and her God-daughter, Susan Marx.

Services were cared for privately. A Memorial Service will be held at the UB Newman Center at a date and time to be announced. Flowers gratefully declined. If desired, memorials to Hospice Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227, are preferred by the family.
